Nadia Van Dorn, Director of Ministries for

Children, Youth & Families

 

Nadia has been with Fairmont for just over 2 years now.  She is originally from Seattle., Washington and received her BA in Religion and Philosophy at Southwestern College in Winfield, KS.  She also has her Masters of divinity from Princeton Theological Seminary and spent a year as a professor in Kazakhstan at Central Asia Evangelical School of Theology.  When she's not leading the girl's Bible study or helping with PYC (the Presbyterian Youth Connection), Nadia enjoys kayaking, quilting and reading.

Ms. Meghan Wakeley, Director of Music Ministries

 

Meghan was born in Bay City, Texas, to Jeff, a Methodist minister, and Colleen, a medical database builder. She has one older sister, Shannon, who lives in Colorado Springs.

Meghan has been experiencing and learning about music since she was a baby. Growing up, she was constantly exposed to a variety of music by her parents, including Classical, Romantic, Baroque, Jazz, Opera, Musical Theater, Gospel, and Blue Grass. Meghan also discovered her love for the Romantic genre through Sleeping Beauty and The Nutcracker at a very young age. In middle school and high school, Meghan was very active in concert band, jazz band, marching band, musical theater, community theater, and various choirs.

She attended Ohio Northern University, where she was active in the music and drama departments, including becoming a student conductor of the Community Chorus for 2 years, singing lead with the women’s quartet Four Degree’s North for 2 years, and singing with the University Singers for 4 years. Meghan graduated from ONU in 2006 with a Bachelor’s of Music in Music Education. Meghan was a music teacher for one year and decided that God was leading her in other directions, so she left education to pursue her music. Meghan has been Director of Music Ministries since August 2007and has thanked God every day for bringing her to work at Fairmont. Meghan currently sings with the Dayton Philharmonic Orchestra Choir and Chamber Choir, and also enjoys skiing, reading, playing piano, Latin dancing, talking with people, and movies.

Mrs. Barbara Graves, Operations Manager

Barb  came to Fairmont in 1998.  She earned her Batchelor's Degree in History from the University of Dayton, in 1993, where she was employed for 18 years prior to coming to Fairmont.  Barb is a native of Dayton, she has two children, Christy and Jesse.  Barb loves music and enjoys travel, gardening, sewing and geneology. She appreciates working in a Christian atmosphere. She also enjoys interacting with people.  Barb enjoys teaching computer software classes.

Mrs. Norma Grillot, Membership Secretary

 

Norma became Fairmont Church’s Financial Secretary in 1991, following twenty years of service in an accounting office, and currently serves in the role of Membership Secretary. She moved to Dayton from Cincinnati following her marriage, but continues to follow the home town teams via TV, radio and an occasional in-house game.  She has two grown daughters who now reside in the NYC area, and the sights and sounds of the Big Apple entice her to visit whenever possible.

Mrs. Becky Hegwood, Bookkeeper

Becky came to Fairmont in June of 2006.   She has been married to Steve for 22 years, and they have a teenage son.  They are active members of Covenant Presbyterian Church in Springboro.  Becky earned her Bachelors degree in Business from the University of Cincinnati, and worked in the computer training field until she decided to stay home and raise her son.  Becky enjoys scrap booking, gardening, and walking.
