Children's Ministries

Jesus said to the disciples, “Let the little children come to me” and we still hold firm to his invitation.

Children are very important at Fairmont and therefore we offer a variety of opportunities for them and their families. From Sunday school to Vacation Bible School and all the family events in between our goal is to make “even the least of these” feel welcomed at Fairmont and encouraged in their faith journey.

Children’s Christian Education Opportunities

9:30AM Sunday school hour
During the 9:30AM Sunday school hour Fairmont offers two classes for our children, a toddler class and 5 year-6th grade Spark rotation class.

The toddler class is for children ages 2-4 years. 5years - 6th grade class:
All children between the ages of 5 years and 6th grade are invited to participate in the “all ages” class. The class uses the Spark Rotation curriculum. Each month they cover a Bible story and each week the class uses a multi-intelligence to dive deeper into the Bible lesson. Each month the children may engage a Bible lesson through Art, Bible Skills and Games, Cooking, Creative Drama, Music, Science, and Video.  

10:30AM Sunday school classes
During the traditional worship service at Fairmont children are invited to join their age/grade appropriate Sunday school class after the Children’s Talk in worship. Each class uses the Spark curriculum, except for the Toddlers who uses HeartShapers. The Classroom curriculum model walks through key Old Testament and New Testament Bible stories each year, in a two-year cycle. The Old Testament stories are presented in the fall quarter and the New Testament stories are presented in the winter and spring quarters.

Spark Curriculum
      At the heart of Spark Sunday School are the Spark Story Bible and the Spark Bible (NRSV).  These Bibles serve as the key learner resource for each age level across all three curriculum models and present the text to kids in ways that keep them engaged and connected to God’s word. Spark lessons are designed to engage every child in active learning!  Age-appropriate lessons designed for multiple intelligences reinforce key points of the stories and help kids get more out of Sunday school, no matter what their learning style may be. HeartShapers Toddler Curriculum
HeartShaper® Children’s Curriculum is a fully-resourced, quarterly Sunday school curriculum that provides age-appropriate Bible-learning experiences for toddlers. HeartShaper introduces children to God, His Son, His Word, and His Church through active participation in Bible stories and Bible study, multisensory learning, Bible skill-building activities, and focused life application.
